The complaint
Unicolors, Inc. v. Opera Kang Soo Chang, Inc. d/b/a Honey Punch et al., No. 2:26-cv-10550 (C.D. Cal.), was filed September 16, 2026, ECF No. 1 (7 pages). Unicolors, a textile company in Vernon, California, demands a jury trial and pleads one claim for copyright infringement against Opera Kang and Does 1-10.
The work
Unicolors alleges it owns an original two-dimensional textile artwork it calls OG1010, registered under Registration No. VAu 1-220-460 with an effective date of September 22, 2015. The Copyright Office public record lists that registration as an unpublished collection of Unicolors designs that includes OG1010. Unicolors alleges it sampled and sold fabric bearing the design before the alleged infringement.
What the complaint alleges
Unicolors alleges, on information and belief, that Opera Kang manufactured, imported, or distributed garments sold under the Honey Belle label, identified on product labels by the company's RN number, and that a Honey Belle floral dress, style ID6774C, bears a design substantially or strikingly similar to OG1010. It alleges, on information and belief, that the defendants had access through its showroom, samples, third-party vendors, or garments lawfully printed with the design. It seeks damages or statutory damages, an injunction, and fees.
