The complaint

Tikbooks Inc. v. Scioto Marash LLC d/b/a Scioto, No. 2:26-cv-10210 (C.D. Cal.), was filed September 10, 2026 (13 pages). The plaintiff is Tikbooks Inc., a Georgia corporation that publishes educational and self-development books. The defendant is Scioto Marash LLC, alleged on information and belief to be an Ohio company that operates the Amazon storefront called SCIOTO. The complaint demands a jury trial. (Compl. caption; paras. 20 to 23.)

The work

Tikbooks alleges it owns the copyright in the two-dimensional cover artwork for its book The Wolf Code, created in 2025, first published April 1, 2025, and registered by the Copyright Office on December 26, 2025 under Registration No. VA0002490625, with Tikbooks as claimant. It says its claim is limited to the visual expression in that artwork. (Compl. paras. 2 to 3, 26 to 33.)

What it alleges

The complaint alleges that the SCIOTO storefront advertised and sold an unauthorized copy of The Wolf Code listed as "[TIKBOOKS] The Way of the Wolf" for $30.80, with a cover virtually identical to Tikbooks's artwork in its character illustrations, color scheme, typography, and layout. It alleges a test purchase on August 29, 2026 was shipped to Ontario, California, and that the physical book reproduces substantial portions of Tikbooks's publication while omitting its copyright and publisher information. It pleads copyright infringement under 17 U.S.C. 106 and 501. (Compl. paras. 4 to 8, 34 to 53, 60 to 70.)

Relief sought

Tikbooks asks for a declaration of infringement, preliminary and permanent injunctions, an order to stop sales of the accused book, actual damages and the defendant's profits under 17 U.S.C. 504(b), interest, and costs and available attorneys' fees. (Compl. Prayer A to G.)
