The complaint

Michael Grecco Productions, Inc. v. New Century Foundation d/b/a American Renaissance and Jared Taylor, No. 1:26-cv-03723 (D. Md., Northern Division), was filed September 18, 2026, ECF No. 1 (16 pages). The plaintiff, which it calls MGPI, demands a jury trial. The complaint says it alleges matters other than its own conduct on information and belief.

The work

MGPI alleges that photographer Michael Grecco made a 1997 portrait of Rod Carew and his wife in Los Angeles, that the photograph was first published in 2009, and that it was registered effective July 7, 2010, as part of a group registration of 1,126 published photographs, Registration No. VA 1-431-698. The Copyright Office public record lists Michael Grecco Photography, Inc. as claimant, and MGPI alleges it owns the copyright by written assignment.

What the complaint alleges

MGPI alleges that New Century Foundation publishes American Renaissance and operates its website, and that Taylor founded and directs it. It alleges that on or about October 14, 2022, the defendants published the photograph on the website to illustrate an article and video, and also stored it as a standalone image file, without a license. It alleges the page carried a copyright notice attributing ownership of the site's contents, including the photograph, to New Century Foundation.

Claims and relief

The first cause of action pleads copyright infringement. The second pleads false copyright management information under 17 U.S.C. §§ 1202(a) and 1203. MGPI seeks actual damages and profits or statutory damages, statutory damages for each alleged § 1202(a) violation, a permanent injunction, fees, and costs.
