The complaint

Cheung v. Chalogy, Inc., No. 2:26-cv-10266 (C.D. Cal.), was filed September 11, 2026 (5 pages). The plaintiff is Philip Cheung, whom the complaint describes as an award-winning professional photographer in Los Angeles. The defendants are Chalogy, Inc., a California corporation, and Does 1-10. The complaint demands a jury trial. (Compl. caption; paras. 4 to 6.)

What it alleges

The complaint alleges, on information and belief, that Chalogy owns, operates, or controls the website chalogybeauty.com and associated Instagram and Facebook pages, which it calls Defendants' Website. It alleges that Cheung took and owns the copyright in an original photograph registered with the Copyright Office, and that after the photograph was published the defendants copied, displayed, reproduced, or distributed it for commercial purposes on Defendants' Website without a license; its comparison shows the copies in an Instagram post and a Facebook post. The single claim is copyright infringement against all defendants. On information and belief, the complaint alleges access and alleges that the infringement was willful, reckless, or willfully blind. (Compl. paras. 5, 8 to 15.)

Relief sought

Cheung asks for an injunction against further exploitation of the photograph without a license, the defendants' profits and his losses or, if elected, statutory damages under 17 U.S.C. 504, costs and fees under 17 U.S.C. 505, and prejudgment interest. (Compl. Prayer a to e.)
